Equal Rights For Peacocks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Darlings, I can be as politically correct as anyone, but sometimes things are taken a bit too far.

Every one of my age knows Pearl Milling Pancake Mix is really Aunt Jemima; she is gone but the box design says it all.  And I have to confess I miss her.  And she was updated to where she had a permanent.  I get the racial angle, but some of us loved Aunt Jemima, she was like a figure of comfort for many.

Same with Uncle Ben.  Said people know Ben's Originals Rice is really Uncle Ben's, only he is missing.  The same thing with Rastus, the chef on the Cream Of Wheat Box.  Again, I get the racial thing, but some of us miss these figures, having had a real affection for them.

OK, racism is one thing.  But now NBC is getting rid of its peacock??????????  A symbol of my TV viewing for over sixty years?  What is this, a war on birds?????????  Who is going to be next.  The Quaker Oats Man????????????????????

Do not let NBC get rid of the peacock.  Peacocks should have rights, and for NBC to do away with this is to deny peacocks their rights!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The fowl world should rise up in protest!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Victoria, I am not sure, but they are getting rid of the bird and renaming the network NBC NOW. If I hear more, I will let you know.

You can relax, RQ: no need to worry over this one: the NBC Peacock is in no peril and potentially more iconic than ever. You misunderstood the situation, as it wasn't publicized with as much clarity as it should have been.

The NBC Peacock symbology will remain with the venerable NBC broadcast network, and has even been carried over to its likely successor the "peacock" streaming service. The change applies only to the failing "MSNBC" cable news channel, which like all cable channels has been in steep decline as younger people consider cable TV about as relevant a corded desk telephones. Originally a bizarre business marriage between MicroSoft and NBC, MS long ago abandoned the project and now NBC wants out as well.

Along with several other dying channels owned by ComCast, MS-NBC is being prepped for sale in hopes some delusional sucker investor might be foolish enough to buy it. MicroSoft is already gone, rendering the MS meaningless, now that NBC is also out the NBC is meaningless. So the channel name is changing from "MicroSoft National Broadcasting Company" (MS-NBC) to "My Source / News / Opinion / World" (MS-NOW).

The peacock is exiting along with NBC's stake in the channel. The channel itself is expected to implode before anyone even kicks the tires to buy it, given the derision already heaped upon the pathetic attempt at re-branding..
