Sixty Two Years Ago Tonight, Darlings!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Girls, just imagine being in the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre, now, back in 1959.  The house lights dim, the audience leans back, and church bells chine, as the curtain goes up on...."The Sound Of Music!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

This was the night that introduced it to the world.  Before Julie and Company defined it, six years later.  And it had a three-and-a-half year run on Broadway!

I believe all the Original Broadway children are still alive, save for Marilyn Rogers, who played Brigitta.  If I am wrong, please tell me.

Pull out this CD, sit back, and transport yourselves to sixty two  years ago, tonight!

No wonder Mary Martin was associated with theatrical magic!

What present-day theater production captures that magical feeling??
Or even comes close?

Victoria,
None that I can think of.
Though we have no plans now,
I am excited about the revival
of "The Music Man," with Hugh
Jackman and Sutton Foster.
