Darlings, I Want To Look THIS Good, After The Procedure!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes, for the more perceptive, that is Ronee Blakley, as Barbara Jean, in Robert Altman's 1975 masterwork, "Nashville."  She spends some time in the hospital during the film, so I want to make sure I look this good, too.  Remember when she is doing her nail polish, while Karen Black, as Connie White, replaces her on the radio, at the Grand Ole Opry show?  That is what I want to do--my nails!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What do you think, girls???????????  Blushing pink????????????

                                                    Or Jungle Red, darlings?????????????????????

                                                    You tell me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I Want Amy Sedaris To Be My Angel, During The Procedure!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Why? First of all, that hair!  I would love to have it !  Second, I find Amy's humor, and outlook comforting, not to mention her couture, so I want to march in there on Thursday, with Amy's attitude, saying to one and all, "Hi, everyone!  Hey!  It's four in the morning!"

Or whenever!  Anyway, I am going to try and put up the video of Amy saying just that; however just like Jessica Lange guided Roy Scheider, during his procedure in the 1979 film, "All That Jazz!" Stay with me, Amy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Please!  And, when it is all over, tell me who your hair stylist is!!!!!!!!!!!

Let me try and find that Amy video I have been mentioning!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Here it is!  This says more about how I lived in NYC as a youth, rather than now!

Are you kidding?  I hardly go out at night, anymore!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

                                      Love to Amy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Some More On That Procedure, Darlings!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am sure many out there will recognize the game board from Milton Bradley's game, "Operation."  You know, the one billed as "The Electric Game--Where YOU are the doctor!

I don't know how many medical careers were inspired by this game, if any, but let me be the first to say, this does not look like me.  I would never go into this, with a hair style, like that!  After all, I am The Raving Queen!  Give me some more credit!  I will go in, fully coiffed.

But here is what I am in for.  After being put under anaesthesia,  an incision is to be made in my groin,, after which a catheter is going to run from there to the femoral artery up to my heart, where they will locate where the beat irregularities are, and then zap them.

Sounds simple, in print, but when mine is the body going through this, nothing is simple. This is a big deal, and I sure did not plan on it!

Alas, it is necessary, because when I get an attack, I am one of the few who does not feel, or notice it.  Best to take care of it now, like I have said!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It all happens Thursday, October 15.  And I have a lot of reading and writing to do, in the meantime!

As well as "a lot of living to do," afterward!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Darlings, I Have To Tell You--I Am Having The Procedure, And I Am So Scared!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The procedure is called a heart ablation, and let me tell you, I am SO scared!  Have I made that clear??????????

After having gone from a diagnosis of ventricular tachycardia, to atrial fib, worn a heart monitor for two weeks with no problems, only to have my rate soar to over 160 beats per minute, during a follow up visit, last Monday, the conclusion was inevitable.  The way I see it, much as I don't look forward to it, I would rather go through it now, than not, only to have something worse happen, where fewer options would be available, and I would forever regret not having the ablation in the first place.

I am doing this for the sake of my loved ones, as much as myself.  And that also includes my animal friends, and my readers on here!

This happens on Thursday, October 15!  I am looking at the date positively, because I was born on a Thursday.

Remember the scene in the 1979 film, "All That Jazz," and Jessica Lange was an angel?  I need my angels on my side for this one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And I need to keep my voice, so I can continue to sing "Frank Mills!"

                                            Wish me luck, girls!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Girls, I Am SO Excited!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Those who have been with this blog for lo' these many years should at least recognize, if not the outfit, then what it is from.  For those who may not, let me repeat--this is the outfit worn by the late Heather Menzies, in her signature role of Louisa Von Trapp in the 1965 film "The Sound Of Music!"  She wears it for much of the "Do Re Mi" montage--next to the opening with Julie Andrews, almost everyone's favorite moment in the film.  Also, in the boat scene, where she carries Kym Karath out of the water.  According to film lore, Karath, threw up over Menzies soon after getting out of the water!  When she had a little boy, Heather became that child's godmother!

It has always been my dream to wear this outfit--hell, any of Heather's "Sound Of Music" outfits.  When I first saw the film in 1965, I so wanted to be Heather Menzies.  Also Angela Cartwright, with the yellow dress in the party scene.  If only I had looked that good!  But always Heather!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, now, thanks to Debbie Turner, who played Marta, the second youngest girl, my dream can sort of be realized!  Debbie has a website where she sells accessories she makes, and right now she is selling masks replicating the children's outfits which Maria made from the drapes.  Heather and the rest wore them for most of the "Do Re Mi" montage, and, in the boat scene, when, according to film lore, Kym Karath threw up all over Heather Menzies, after Heather carried out of the water!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just discovered the masks last week, so I want all my girls to buy one, and be a Von Trapp, to fight Covid!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

"High on a hill was a lonely goatherd...........!"

And here they are!  The masks, and the five surviving film Von Trapps to model them. Top row, left to right--Kym Karath (Gretel),  Nicholas Hammond (Friedrich), Debbie Turner (Marta).   Bottom row, left to right, Angela Cartwright (Brigitta), Duane Chase (Kurt).

Thank you, one and all, love always to Heather and Charmian. And thank you, Debbie!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A Sad Farewell To Our Beloved Chloe!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

On September 13 of this year, I posted on here prayers for our beloved friend, Chloe, the sweet Golden Lab owned by neighbors nearby.  Chloe was always on sight, and gave  me lots of comfort, and David was fond of her, too.

In that last post, I urged prayers for Chloe, who was suffering from painful bowel inflammation, and had to undergo surgery at the vet's.

Last Saturday, we walked by the house, and there was our Chloe, standing in the doorway, cheerfully greeting us with her lively bark, and wagging her tail happily, as though telling us, "I am going to be OK."

Alas, it was not to be.

Yesterday, one of Chloe's owners, who saw us passing by, came out and delivered some bad news--Chloe passed away on Friday, October 2.  Which just happens to be the Feast Of The Guardian Angels, so Chloe was blest.  Not that I doubted it while she was on Earth, but I know she is such in the Afterlife.

We were told Chloe, during the week, took a turn for the worse, becoming sicker, and in pain, which led to her death.  Whether she died at home, or at the vet's, is not for me to ask, but I pray Chloe did not suffer.  I know her owners would not have wanted to.

So, girls, bid Chloe a loving farewell, and know that she will never be forgotten by this blogger.

I know you are watching us from above, Chloe!

But thank you so much for the happiness you brought us on Earth!

What Ever Happened To The Skinny Cow?????????????????

This question occurred to me, yesterday, as David and I were doing our food shopping.  I noticed there were no Skinny Cow products in the dairy section!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Has political correctness gone too far?  Et tu, Skinny Cow?  Aunt Jemima, even with her up to date permanent, which I am certain she got at Sally Hershberger's, is gone.  Supposedly, Eustis, the Cream Of Wheat chef, is scheduled to disappear, although I still see boxes with him on it, and think of buying one as a collector's item.  And the Land O'Lakes American Indian girl has vanished from the butter tubs, though I have still seen her pic on cartons of Half N' Half!

It is bad enough these comforting childhood symbols are vanishing.  I loved staring into Infinity over the Land O' Lakes container.

But why the Skinny Cow?  Such a sweet thing, what has he/she ever done, but inspire us girls to want to look our best.  And I love the Skinny Cow!

Does that mean the Laughing Cow will eventually go?  How about the Quaker guy on Quaker Oats?  Will Markee Maypo be removed, for being perceived as a special needs kid?  And how about the Lucky Charms leprechaun for defaming the Irish?

I am of Irish descent, and it does not bother me.  What bothers me more is not only are all the symbols of my early life being put on the chopping block, but the manufacturing of these products will lose the element of familiarity that makes people want to purchase them.

They will just be dehumanized corporate logos!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

                                                     Bring back commercial humanism!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And love to the Skinny Cow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
