Thus begins the sixth month of a twelve-month year, so we are almost at the halfway point, darlings. But before getting into June, let me say I comforted myself by ending May with a viewing of 1957's "Blood Of Dracula." That is the one where Sandra Harrison, as Nancy Perkins is sent to Sherwood Girls School by her dumb father who marries some tramp named Doris who couldn't even do the job of a hatcheck girl, six weeks after losing his wife! Can you imagine? Nancy falls in with the group but repressed lesbian Miss Branding (Louise Lewis) takes an interest in here, and through hypnosis makes Nancy into a monster more glamorous looking than her real self. Unfortunately, she goes after victims. She ends up in a brawl with Branding, who is killed by her own necklace--the chain chokes her, and Nancy is impaled on a board. The most interesting thing is the impaled Nancy, having been pierced right through the chest, is not bleeding at all.
But what a way to end a month! Repressed lesbianism and monster glamour!
As for June, it is the only month that has three songs, as you will see, it has the most birthdays in this family, it is Pride month, and, of course, the longest day of the year--then they start to shorten--and the official start of Summer.
I am seeing "An Enemy Of The People" on June 5, and a week later David has his surgery. Cross your fingers, all.
And don't forget the TONY Awards, on June 16, also my niece's birthday, and Bloomsday!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have a lot riding on the TONYS this year, darlings!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So, now, onto JUNE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
