This film is entertaining enough in its own right, but who thought, back when I first saw this as a child, that Ridley Scott would be influenced by this to create 1979's "Alien," just 21 years later?
Obviously, this film was done on the cheap, so the "It" in this film looks like a redo of the outfit worn by "The Creature From The Black Lagoon." I wonder why Universal did not sue this film company. Probably it was not worth it. Still, the film, especially not having seen it, deserves a look, if only for its current place in film history--something no one at the time ever thought of it having.
But the real excitement, darlings, will be the "Sventoonie" after party, and what film will be deconstructed this week. I mean, last week's "Eegah!" was a gem, because it is hard to get any lower. It makes "Robot Monster" or "Plan Nine From Outer Space" look like masterpieces. Even "Bride Of The Monster!"
So, really, dears, the reason to tune in tonight is "Sventoonie." And, of course, Kerwyn, Blob E. Blob and Trevor!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We love you, Svengoolie, we really do.
But you are being slowly upstaged. Good thing it is your franchise!
See you at eight, girls! Baby Gojira and Pippin cannot wait!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
