Darlings, The Resulting Tableau Shot From This Set-Up Made Me Cry REAL Tears, At The End Of "Werewolf Of London!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

                                       It starts with Henry Hull, in wolf make-up, advancing to Valerie Hobson, as Lisa Glendon.  She recognizes the creature as her husband, Wilfred Glendon, and implores him to stop.  A shot rings out, the werewolf falls backward on the stairs, lying flat on his back, with Lisa standing clutching the stair railing above him, and others gather round to form a tableau, so they can hear Henry Hull's sad, tormented, farewell speech.

                                        This is a story of torment and victimization.  That opening shot of the werewolf is key to the real culprit, though one never learns what werewolf bit him.  The movie is greatly livened up by Spring Byington--always a pro!!!!!!!!!--as Miss Ettie Coombs, Lisa's aunt, and Ethel Griffes as Mrs. Whack, and her saloon drinking pal!  They are a hoot!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

                                            All the fight and fuss about a moon blooming flower, which is an antidote for not becoming a werewolf was cooked up by the Universal screenwriters.  It is not part of the general folklore of the myth.

                                              But the actors' seriousness, and great visuals, made "Werewolf Of London" a treat to see; one not since childhood.  And my understanding as an adult made it all the more tragic for me!  I did not quite get that when very young.

                                                  Now, wait!  Because, as fun as "Svengoolie" nights are, they have been further enlivened by "Sventoonie," which follows afterward.  The gimmick is Toonie , the tuna on the cartoon show with Bill, gets his own "Svengoolie" gig, with jokes and an entire horror movie in twenty minutes, through judicious editing.  The first one was 1968's "Night Of The Living Dead," and this past Saturday, it was the William Castle 1959 original, "House On Haunted Hill!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

                                                      You must stay tuned for this.  Toonie is adorable, and the mashing of the films are inspired.   I hope Svengoonie becomes a permanent addition, although I thought I heard something about only seven weeks.  Still, it will be the best seven weeks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  

                                                      And don't forget Sventoonie's sidekick, Blob E. Blob, the fish.  He is Blob Of The Macabre," and is just as adorable!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
