The Great Horizontal Of The Twentieth Century!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

                         It is inconceivable to me, given the times, that Pamela Digby Churchill Hayward Harriman did not become one of Truman Capote's swans.  I bet she and Capote crossed paths over the years, but maybe her history reminded Capote too much of his mother.

                          Because, darlings, Pamela elevated and defined the art of sleeping her way to the top.  No one did it better than she.  Hence, the titular designation in the headline.  I first came across Pamela in 1977, when I read Brooke Hayward's classic memoir, "Haywire." She spoke for all children, whose mothers are gone, but whose fathers either remarry or keep company with another woman--as my father did with that Mary Daly; oh, don't get me started on her! --when she said, "All I can say about Pamela is that she made my father comfortable and happy."  Ditto, Mary Daly!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

                                Unlike Mary, Pamela had a skill that Hayward singled her out for, when he called her "La Bouche."  Apparently, long before Linda Lovelace, Pamela was especially skilled at fellatio.  I wonder how and where she learned that?  That, to Heyward, was the highlight of his marriage to Pamela.  Ah, those heterosexuals!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

                                   Don't try to sleep your way to the top, girls; it never works.  Pamela came from money, had class, and that special skill.  And she became an Ambassador To France.  I am telling you,, this gal got places!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

                                      What's the takeaway from Pamela's story?  Darlings,

 don't sell yourselves short!  Don't go for the Weinsteins of the world!  Aim higher!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
