It has been quite a summer for us, darlings, but now that we are into late August, the dog days cannot be denied. One day seems like another, I cannot find a book to blow me away, Amy Adams just turned 50 two days ago--my God, can you believe it?????--and now we contemplate the cozy, quiet and cool evenings of autumn, reading contentedly as it grows darker earlier and earlier. Until before one knows it, the longing for summer is here again.
So, enjoy the dog days while you can, darlings!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
They may be dog days, but they serve a purpose!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I’ll be honest, August is a sad month for me. What do you call the birthday of someone who has died, and what do you call the anniversary of someone’s death??
Well, we have several of Both if those days in August.
Victoria, I hear you. You have just described what the month of April is like for me--my mother's passing, her mother, my friend Steve, my childhood friend Doug, and the last took place on April 30, which is my father's birthday.
My sister's husband died on April 5. April is as difficult for me as August is for you. I wish you the best.
