"Is anybody there? Does anybody care?" John Adams sings at one point in the musical "1776." The same could be said for The TONY Awards honoring one show, while dissing another, both of which started at The Public.
I guess brains of generations post 1975 have lost their retention bit by bit, or else "A Chorus Line" would be honored, as well. Colleges and regional theaters seem to do it all the time; it is said that it is always playing somewhere in the world. So, why no acknowledgement?
My dream would be a short run revival, featuring original cast members performing their roles. But I guess that will not happen.
Will someone please give this show the due it deserves????????????????
And it will outlive "Hamilton," darlings!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

AND high schools!!
We’ve seen it several times over the years at some of our local high schools!!!!
Victoria, Yes, they do it in high school. I have never seen a HS production, but would be curious to see how they handle it.
