Who Would Think This Week's Bitch Of The Week Would Be A Murder Victim???????????????

We are going fictitious this week, darlings, and also covering the latest episode of "Rizzoli And Isles," which, so sources tell me, but not the show itself, was the Fifth Season Finale.  I mean, I think this season has less episodes than "The Slap."  But it was an interesting exploration of the effects of childhood bullying into adulthood, with a subplot involving seeing Maura be a victim of identity stealing. Trouble is, her perpetrator did not have her class.

The man pictured above is actually the killer, and I have more sympathy for him than I ultimately did for his victim.

                                Here is what happened.

Todd Reynolds, traveling home from a late night job shift, comes to a halt, when his car stalls. He gets out to see what is wrong, when another car happens to show up.  Todd is relieved, thinking it is help, but the man has a metal hook, and goes after Todd with it, ultimately killing him.  We do not, of course, see who the man is.  It is dark, he is dressed darkly, and carefully covering his face.

Jane and Maura speed to the scene, collecting evidence.   As the investigation progresses, a detective from Camden, Maine, named Mike Guthrie, walks into Jane's office, with a batch of evidence, similar to what they have collected.  He tells them he is working on a similar case, a 60-year-old woman named Ruth, who was apparently murdered in the same way. He feels the same killer is involved, and, while in different jurisdictions, maybe they could work on this, together.

They reach a tacit agreement, when suddenly something goes wrong. Due to someone throwing a cigarette into a waste basket in the Men's Room, the sprinkler system in Maura's forensics lab goes off, destroying all the evidence. Hmmmmmmmmmmm!  Sabotage is afoot!   And the minute I laid eyes on that detective, my suspect radar went on.

It turned out I was right. Mike Guthrie IS a detective from Maine--that is true. But he is also the killer--of Todd Reynolds, and, as it turns out, Ruth.  It is what is discovered by Korsak (Bruce McGill) that sets the stage for the victim becoming this week's Bitch Of The Week, and the episode becomes an interesting study in how childhood bullying can scar one for life..

The victim, Todd Reynolds, and Mike Guthrie both went to the same summer camp, when they were boys.  Mike had a bed wetting problem, and Todd was the ringleader of the boys in his cabin, who bullied him mercilessly about it. It got so bad he called for his parents to come and get him, and his stepfather, in front of everyone there, berated him, and spanked him.

Mike overcame some of the adversity, becoming a law enforcement officer. He broke away from his parents, and created a life of his own.  But, when a reunion at the camp was held two weeks ago, memories were triggered, and Mike went on a revenge spree.

I believe the Ruth he killed was his mother, as she probably did nothing about the abuse heaped out by step dad.  See my posting on the Michael Landon film, "The Loneliest Runner."  But childhood bullying is cruel,  and the scars last.  So, I can sympathize with Mike going after Todd, who is this week's winner of The Raving Queen Bitch Of The Week Award.  You may wonder why step dad is not designated; he surely qualifies, but for children to mercilessly tease one of their own has consequences that can carry on into adulthood.   So, while I was glad to see Mike go after step dad, and was sorry he wasn't killed, I felt Todd, when the story came out, deserved what he got.

Just like the "SVU' episode where the campers raped that girl, who gave birth to a daughter by one of them.

There you have it, darlings!  Bitch Of The Week, and "Rizzoli And Isles!"
Two postings, for the price of one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
