Who knew, on the evening "ANNIE" opened on Broadway at the then Alvin Theatre, that it would become the season's hottest ticket, sweep the TONY Awards, and create a lifelong career for Andrea McArdle, not to mention a signature song--"Tomorrow!"
Dorothy Loudon defined Miss Hannigan, and when I saw the show on June 25, 1977, the orphans just walked off with the show. I still recall who they were--
Diana Barrows--Tessie Danielle Brisebois--Molly Shelley Bruce--Kate Robyn Finn--Pepper Donna Graham--Duffy Janine Ruane--July
I wonder where they are now.
It was not until I saw a spot of "ANNIE" featured on The TONY Awards that I ran into the city and purchased a ticket.
Here is that magical spot for all to see. It was sheer musical theater magic.
Which we hardly get anymore!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
