With Its Bud Westmore Make-Up For The Creatures, "The Mole People" Had Terrific Potential! Alas, Adding Humans Turned It Into An Ersatz, Cheap DeMille Knockoff!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

                          Dancing girls?  Slave beaters?  The cult of Isthmus?  

                          I actually felt bad for the poor Mole People being beaten like slaves.  Maybe this film should be banned--it is no masterpiece.  Poor Alan Napier, reduced to this crap.  He had a big come-back as butler Alred in the Sixties TV show, "Batman," with Adam West and Burt Ward! And don't forger Madge Blake, as Aunt Harriet.  Was she Frances Bavier's twin sister??????????????

                            Such conjectures were more interesting with the film, which, if the humans had been eliminated, and it was just the Mole People menacing the earthlings from above, the film would have far more entertaining, as well as cut in half!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

                               This film rips off H.G. Wells' "The Time Machine," and Rodgers' And Hammerstein's "The King And I."  Stick with those, dolls!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

                                  Here was a civilization that needed to stay buried!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
