Finally, A REAL Actor Is Brought In, To Show The Others--Mariska, Mostly--How To ACT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Last night's 'SVU' episode, "The Undiscovered Country," was one of the strangest yet.  Save for the brilliant Sam Waterson, they had unknown, low grade guest stars, a far cry from the days when there might be Estelle Parsons, Martha Plimpton, and Mary Steenburgen in just one episode?  Remember those days, girls!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dick Wolf must have some kind of grudge for Michael Moriarty, because the show started with Waterson, in that beautiful voice he has, delivering a eulogy, for Moriarty's character, Ben Stone.  When he said, "May the angels take you in flight to your rest," his delivery actually made me cry.  But it also puts a nail in the coffin for Moriarty, who is very much still alive.  Now, even if he wanted to come back to the franchise, there is no chance.

And this is the episode where, sadly it was farewell to Rafael Barba, wonderfully played by Raul Esparza, for the past six seasons.  As he walks off into the sunset, with Olivia watching, he should have had the final shot.  But, oh NO, the last shot is on Olivia!  Why does this show have to be All About Olivia!

What a shame Kelli Giddish and Peter Scanavino, who are wonderful, did not get to act with Sam Waterson.  It was strictly Barba, which made sense, and Olivia, who damn, just has to shove her way into everything!

The Ben Stone departure served as a way of introducing a new character onto the show, Peter Stone, a rising ADA, and Ben's son, played by Philip Winchester, who is from "Chicago Justice," and looks far too blue collar to be an ADA on this show!!!!!  Why couldn't they have brought back Stephanie March?  Or, better yet, promote Scanavino's character to ADA, and have Winchester fill in Scanavino's spot on the squad??????????????????

Doesn't the creative staff on this show ever stop to think?

As much of an annoyance as these matters are, especially Mariska as Olivia, I don't think she is the primary problem.  Everything that goes down on this show is vested by Dick Wolf, and it saddens me to say he is now standing in the way of a show he helped to create.

The show has a strong fan base.  I cannot believe all of them like what is going on with the show, currently.  Some are on the same page as I.

So, why not listen to us, for a change, Mr. Wolf!  Huh???????????????
