Happy Shrove Tuesday, Girls!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

                                              Can you believe we have actually made it to another Shrove Tuesday?????
Darlings, I am telling you, the Winter Season seems to be just flying by, which is OK by  me.  As you can tell  by the picture above, Shrove Tuesday is traditionally a day on which to eat pancakes!!!!!!!!!  Sometimes it is referred to as National Pancake Day, (especially by non-Catholics) and in certain cultures, things other than pancakes are consumed.  An older gentleman I knew many years ago, from a German Catholic background, said on this day his mother made some kind of strudel!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

                                                 The idea has always been to use up whatever fattening things are in the house, in preparation for the 40 days of Lent, wherein fasting is often practiced.  What I want to know is, if there is so much fasting going on, why do we need Jennifer Hudson to do Weight Watchers commercials?????????    And, come to think of it, by Easter, I haven't noticed a new collection of slimmed down folk!  None of my friends, I can tell you, darlings!!!!!!!!!

                                                     It is also the day before Ash Wednesday, which starts Lent, and is 40 days till Easter, which, of course, in my house, means the annual screening of "The Song Of Bernadette!"  And with the film turning 70 this year, it will be a very special screening.

                                                     But, for now, a Happy Shrove Tuesday to all!!!!!!!!!  Eat your pancakes, now!!!!!!!!!!!!  Little Black Sambo was right, after all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
