Tyler Continues To Inspire, Girls!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I had never seen this photo of Tyler before, so wanted to use it, because it seems to emphasize the  innate sweetness within this young man, who would have made so many contributions of his own, had he stuck around, but whose life was cut tragically short by a tragedy we--especially those of you who read on here--are all too familiar with!!!!!!!!

Recently, Rutgers announced, with the Clemtnis, the creation of the Tyler Clementi Center.  Now, noted playwright Christopher Shinn ("Now Or Later," the Roundabout's 2009 "Hedda Gabler") is opening a play, at Chicago's prestigious Goodman Theater that, while not a literal depiction of Tyler's story, takes its narrative cue from it.  The play is called "Teddy Ferrara," and concerns Gabe, a senior in college, who witnesses, first hand, a tragedy happening to the title character--a gay freshman, eager to embrace college and his emerging sexuality!  Gabe has a boy friend, there is a transgender character, so the work seems to be embracing all forms of sexual diversity. And Shinn, who is gay himself, say he drew as much from his own story as Tyler's!!!!!!!!!!

I'm on board for this one, darlings!!!!!!!!  Shinn, who has been nominated for a Pultizer, and whose "Hedda Gabler" (with Mary Louise Parker, which I saw!!!!!!!!!!!) was done at the Roundabout!!!!!!!!!) hopes "Teddy Ferrara" will make it to Broadway!  Hell, I just hope it makes it to New York, even in an Off-Broadway venue!  If any of my girls out there are Chicagoans, then make a bee line to this at  once!!!!!!!!

If only--considering how lackluster this current theater season has been--this  could be the pick-me-up it needs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Like the hand of Catherine Linton, reaching out to Mr. Lockwood at the start of "Wuthering Heights," Tyler Clementi still continues to reach out to all of us!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

                                       Places for Act One, darlings!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
