Hi, Joan!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

                            No, darlings, that is NOT Joan Didion, walking down the street in our neighborhood. It is a woman we have simply dubbed "Joan," because her dress, manner and lifestyle--lots of smoking and drinking--is akin to Joan Didion, herself.

                              Her actual name may not even be "Joan," and probably is not, but this is the closest we come to having a character like Didion in our environment.

                              Early in the morning or evening, she escapes from her caregivers, to indulge in her pleasures that hold her together, as she gathers and mutters deep, philosophical thoughts.  She speaks some sort of foreign language--maybe Russian--and is fascinating and mysterious. Which is why we love her!!!!!!!!!!!!

                                 I know there is a story here, darlings!  So, if anyone out there recognizes her and knows the truth, then  let me know on here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
