With "Evil Stepmothers" Such A Hit On ID, How About The Stepmother Who Started It All????????????

Now, technically, the Wicked Queen, who has been dealt with on here, is a stepmother, but that word is never mentioned in the story.  The same cannot be said of Lady Tremaine, of Disney's 1950 "Cinderella," the story that invented the term "wicked stepmother."

One has to wonder about Lady Tremaine. Her dress and hair style suggests too many viewings of Alfred Hitchcock's "Rebecca," and a desire to imitate its quintessential bitch, Mrs. Danvers.  Well, Lady Tremaine treats Cinderella as shabbily as Danvers treated Joan Fontaine.  Kind of like how Olivia treated Joan!!!!!!!!!  What goes around, comes around!!!!!!!!!!!!

A pity Disney sanitized the story.  The stepsisters, and, I believe, the mother, get their eyes plucked out by birds. How satisfying that would have been to see Lady Tremaine get hers, and there is that Hitchcock connection again.

Still,  Lady Tremaine makes a perfect Bitch Of The Week!  In honor of rotten stepmothers everywhere!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And real mothers, too.  I mean, look at Catherine Pelzer!!!!!!!!  Or Mama June!!!!!!!!!!
