As Long As We Are Praying For Peace, Girls!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Today happens to be the birthday of one of my childhood friends. But now that date is irrevocably associated with the shootings at Sandy Hook Elementary School, in Newtown, Connecticut.

One year ago, Adam Lanza, a seriously disturbed young man, started off the day, by killing his mother, at home.  He then proceeded to the school, where he managed to shoot and kill 20 children, and six school workers.  I can only wonder what this day is bringing up for the survivors--parents and family members of the victims.

I recall it very well.  I was off that day (it was Friday, last year!) and was planning to come into the city for my office Christmas party.  When I arrived, I noticed all the flags in the area were already at half mast!  Who had died? What had happened?  I wondered.  It was not till I arrived at the party I discovered the answer. And learned more, in the days to come.

To think this anniversary falls on a day following the shooting spree of Karl Pierson, 18 at Arapahoe High School in Centennial, Colorado, not too far from Columbine.

What is it, with this state?  Stay the hell out of there, girls!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Karl arrived at the school, with a shotgun, intending to gun down teacher/librarian Tracy Murphy.  Murphy was also the coach of the debating team Pierson was on. Earlier this Fall, the two had a confrontation, and Pierson threatened to kill him. So, he was suspended from the team.

It was the young man's dream to join the Air Force, following his graduation from high school? I have to ask--what does he behavior say about young men who aspire to the military???? Suppose he had gotten in???????????

Instead, Pierson ended up critically injuring a fifteen-year-old classmate, who had nothing to do with his issues, and killed himself. Murphy escaped out a door.

It is just like Peter, Paul and Mary sang--"How many deaths will it take, till
we know, that too many people have died?"

                                            How many, indeed, darlings??????????????????????????/
