Farewell To A Trash Queen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is not to dishonor Jackie Collins, but to praise her. The 77-year-old author, and sister of actress Joan, died September 19, from breast cancer. Of all things, when you consider how sexually potent her novels were.
One thing about Jackie Collins. She was no fool. She would be the first to admit that what she wrote was not to be taken seriously as literature. How could it? I mean, when I read "Hollywood Wives," with the scene where Gina Germaine is having intercourse with some guy, and he gets stuck inside her, and can't get out? They are wheeled on a gurney, by ambulance to a hospital, with him atop her, while she is yelling, "Get him off me!"
Hilarious!
Only Jackie could get away with writing a novel called "The Bitch," admitting it was based on her sister. Not even the De Havillands went that far!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
She would also be the first to admit an earlier Jackie (Susann!!!!!!) paved the way for she and her contemporaries. Without Jackie S., there would have been no Jackie C!
I also loved hearing, on a TV interview. how she did not read such stuff on her own time. She read Jane Austen, George Eliot, and the Brontes. Bet she was alone among her peers in knowing who Dorothea Brook was.
Jackie Collins knew just where she stood, and laughed at everyone who thought otherwise. She was a class act.
Rest In Peace, Jackie!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
