Twisting, teens, and terror for the holiday weekend! A pretty dismal community is menaced by a giant mutant spider, (really a tarantula under glass!) and the hormone fueled teens join forces with the nebbishy science teacher, to stop the spider.
Look at the expression of terror on actress June Kenney! Where do you see this kind of acting anymore? As Carol Flynn, she has a lot to be frightened about. She lost her mother, when young, her father is a widower, and she loses him in the opening scene. You have to see the opening scene, darlings; the man is driving his car, having purchased a jeweled ring, as a birthday gift for his teen daughter. Suddenly, he sees something in front of him, the car screeches to a halt, he screams, and there is blood all over his face! Bye, bye, Daddy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have to say, until they find his drained corpse in the cave, and she screams, Carol is pretty cool about the whole thing. Miss Independent Woman carries on like she owns the town. Not much time for grief, here!
The other scene you have to see is the giant spider in the museum, who awakens to the teen rock band's music, gyrates his legs, and beats it outta there! Oh, man!!!!!!!!!!!!!
But this is a nasty critter! When it comes to the scene where it menaces a mother and her baby, kills the mother, and leaves a screaming, bloody baby on the street, well, then it's time for the sheriff to believe the kids, and call out the troops to kill the thing.
No one grieves for the spider. Not even Carol, who didn't grieve much for Dad, or Mom. But, I guess when you look like Carol, you don't have time for grief. Only fashions and sock hops!
Here is the trailer! Dig that crazy beat!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
