Now, THIS Was Miss America, Darlings!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I loathe the loss of tradition, and now the Miss America Pageant has fallen prey to it. When I was a kid, in many homes of folks I knew, including my own, that first Saturday night in September, following Labor Day, of course, always meant the Miss America Pageant--an array of bathing suits, evening gowns, and glamour.

Girls, I am telling you, how many of us swooned before Bert Parks' even then campy, but wonderful, rendition of "There She Is....Miss America???????"  And how many of us dreamed of walking down that runway in those virginal looking one piece suits, and stunning evening gowns?  Scholarship money, tours, fame...what more could us girls ask for??????????

Alas, the swimsuit and evening gown competitions are being eliminated.  Now, I have to confess, I have not watched the pageant in years, but I was shocked to discover, from recent footage, that contestants are now allowed to stroll across that runway, in skimpy bikinis, like some tarted up hookers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  How appalling!  That is not what Miss America is about!  It is about looking all-American and virtuous!  Get rid of the bikinis, to be sure!   And keep the evening gowns!
Every girl should get one chance in life to wear a top designer!  Balenciaga!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh, and it is not to be referred to as a "pageant" anymore.  Now, it is simply the "Miss America Competition."  What kind of show will this now be?  What entertainment value, if any, will it have????????????????

The dreams of aspiring girls of the past, and generations to come, have been destroyed by these foolish, and invalid decisions.  In seeking to improve this event, the perpetrators will systematically destroy it!  Maybe that is what was wanted all along!

As the secretaries in 'How To Succeed' sang, "Don't louse up our fav'rite fairy tale!"

At least keep the ribbon, roses, and crown!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
