Thirteen Days Till Christmas, Loves!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As Christmas edges closer, this is probably one of the few times where thirteen is not an unlucky number.  Frankly, darlings, it more unlucky when you reach it, going through puberty.  But, let's not talk about THAT!!!!!!!!!!!!

The holy songs, as we draw near, are starting to get more intense.  And one of my favorites has always been "Angels We Have Heard On High!"  I love the trills on "Gloria!" and the melody and lyrics are just beautiful.

But, which version to use?  There are so many beautiful versions out there!!!  But, remember, there  has been, and will continue to be, a lot of discussion about Hayley Mills on here!  So, I have taken the version used in Hayley's Catholic movie, "The Trouble With Angels."  The nuns are obviously dubbed by choral voices, because the likes of Mary Wickes and such could not sing like this, and even though we see and hear Rosalind Russell singing, (just to try and prove to one and all that she sang every note in "Gypsy," which every Theater Queen knows is a bold faced lie!!!!!!!!!)  her voice is obviously out of sync with the others!  That Roz!  I will have more to say about her on here, later on,  for having the temerity to diss Hayley!  NO ONE DISSES HAYLEY MILLS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hayley is very important in this sequence.  Watch how brilliantly she plays it.  I have not seen this film in its entirety in decades, but I do remember (spoiler here, girls!!!!) that her character, Mary Clancy, gets "the call" and decides to stay on at the school, and become a nun!  I think this is where you are supposed to realize the idea comes to her.  At least, that is how Hayley plays it, and it is very moving.  It is what I would call her "Song Of Bernadette" moment!

So, enjoy both Hayley and a lovely rendition of this classic carol!!!!!!!!!!

Any takers for the convent, girls??????????????????????
